Lawmakers advanced a bill on Wednesday that would limit the federal government’s contracting with companies that are still operating in Russia amid its war with Ukraine.


Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, many companies started pulling out of Russia and Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., chairwoman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, introduced a bill last month that would force federal contractors to do the same.

The Connections Marketplace (CMP) was launched Feb. 23 by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) with a Buyer Side Chat featuring USDOT’s Federal Railroad Administration.


The CMP will present a new, free platform to help connect small businesses to USDOT procurement officials across all modal administrations.

That’s mainly because the plan that became law last November offers many projects that small businesses could tap into. Consider that the plan consists of $550 billion of new federal investments for the nation’s infrastructure over five years. That will include everything from fixing America’s crumbling roads and bridges to touching its water, broadband, and energy systems.
